Nepenthes glabrata is a highland plant native to Sulawesi. Upper pitcher have red blotches, which appear almost hand painted, on a creamy white trap. This is a slow grower for us. Small plants with a leafspan of 2-3 inches. Most with small immature pitchers as you see in the image. Your Nepenthes glabrata will be shipped bare-root, with damp Sphagnum moss to protect the roots.
Cultivation
As is true of other highland Nepenthes species, N. glabrata prefers a well-drained media, which usually includes a generous portion of long-fiber Sphagnum moss. Other soil ingredients may include peat moss, washed sand, horticultural charcoal, orchid bark and Osmunda fiber. Water as the surface of the soil just begins to get dry. Never let it sit in water. Highland Nepenthes require cool nights to grow well and form pitchers. They like to be kept humid. In general, temperatures should drop below 60F nightly.
