Byblis liniflora is an annual, growing quickly from seed each spring (or anytime in a warm terrarium under lights). After reaching maturity, the plant blooms more-or-less continuously throughout the growing season. The purple flowers are self-pollinating, producing small round seed pods. When the seed is ripe, the seed pods turn brown and split open, revealing small, black, poppy-like seeds. Be sure to save some for planting next time, as the plants will usually die at the end of the season. Luckily, the seed are easy to grow. Just place on moist sandy soil (2 parts horticultural sand to 1 part peat moss works well). Keep under bright lights, or partial to full sunlight, and water with pure, soft water (distilled, rain water or reverse-osmosis-filtered are all good). Keep constantly moist, but not waterlogged. Grown in a terrarium, sometimes the plants will winter-over and grow through another season!
