Drosophyllum lusitanicum, also known as the Portuguese Sundew (or Portugese Sundew) or the Dewy Pine Plant is native to the southern coasts of Spain and Portugal. It has adapted to a harsh, arid environment, and is unlike other carnivorous plants you might be familiar with. For sale is the plant in the picture, an 8 inch tall established Dewy Pine plant. It is Slack Potted in a 14 inch terra cotta outer pot. If adequate care is provided, this plant should bloom for you during the 2012 growing season. These plants often live for years. Full instructions will be provided.
Large established plant. Pickup at our nursery only!
Please note: The Dewy Pine cannot survive root disturbance. It cannot be repotted.
The practice of growing seedling Dewy Pine plants in terra cotta pots and planting them, pot and all, in a much larger pot is known as Slack Potting. This is usually done after they have established themselves (usually about the 7th or 8th set of leaves). This plant has been planted in a 6 inch terra cotta pot, and then Slack Potted in a 14 inch terra cotta outer pot. There is only one available plant, and as stated above, you must pickup at the nursery. No shipping will be provided for this plant.
You can have this most unusual carnivorous plant in your collection.
Please note: Our availability of Dewy Pines is not consistent throughout the year. At times we have more than we can sell, and sometimes we have a waiting list of interested customers. If you have been waiting for us to get more Dewy Pines in stock, please contact us.
