Pinguicula 'Titan' is a hybid of two Mexican butterworts. The seed parent is Pinguicula
agnata (scented flower form?) and the pollen parent is an unidentified Pinguicula collected near Guanajuato, Mexico. A possible moranensis, this pollen parent has flowers similar to gypsicola, and forms underground hibernacula, sometimes over 1/2 inch below the surface. Pinguicula 'Titan' can grow to over 6 inches across, and is a registered cultivar (registered 17.7.1987 by Leo C. Song Jr.). The plant in the image is growing in a 3 inch pot. Sale plants are smaller. As do Mexican Pings generally, it prefers
loose, open soil. We use 1 part each of peat, sand, vermiculite, perlite and pumice.
Shipped bare root, carefully wrapped in damp sphagnum.
